COVENTRY CITY F.C. - SIGNED SHIRT FOR CHARITY AUCTION
Coventry City Football Club have kindly donated a shirt, signed by the players,
to raise funds for a charity supported by a former member of Woolwich staff, who
sadly died last New Year's Eve, at the age of 49. 'Breakthrough' is the
breast cancer charity, and Mick McGaughey was also a lifelong supporter
of the Sky Blues.
For around 20 years Mick worked as a manager in the Woolwich branch network,
mainly in the Essex area. This did not stop him, sometimes on a whim, making the
journey to Highfield Road to support the team he followed in his youth as a local
lad. The attached press cuttings show how he also supported his favourite charity,
with typical enthusiasm and huge physical effort, raising thousands of pounds.
If you would like to buy the shirt, please e-mail me, phillip.dye@woolwich.co.uk,
with your bid, to arrive no later than 28th May. The outcome of the auction
will be announced on 1st June.
Many thanks for your support.
